OUR SERVICES

At Wildwoods & Forestry, we offer extensive services and solutions tailored to meet your individual needs. From comprehensive management services to one-off projects and occasional consultancy support, our offerings are designed to optimise your woodland’s health, growth, and sustainability.

FORESTRY

Wildwoods & Forestry can offer a full management service to grow your forestry investment. We provide the following services:

TIMBER HARVESTING & MARKETING

To ensure the best return for you, we market and sell standing timber through competitive tender processes. We carefully plan and supervise all forestry operations to ensure adherence to United Kingdom Forestry Standards, environmental regulations, and health and safety protocols.

RESTOCKING WOODLAND & MAINTENANCE

Our skilled contractors can handle all forms of restock planting, ground preparation, and crop maintenance to protect your investment. All works are carefully budgeted, and all contractor costs are provided directly to you without any added fees.

FOREST PLANNING

To deliver long-term benefits through sustainable forest management, we specialise in creating Long-Term Forest Plans and Woodland Management Plans that incorporate the owners’ objectives, the environment, economics, and social functions, as well as silvicultural prescriptions into a comprehensive and strategic plan.

NEW WOODLAND CREATION

Wildwoods & Forestry take great pride in creating new woodlands. We can assess your land holding to determine the woodland creation potential, prepare designs and provide practical advice on the most suitable species for planting. We take care of the whole process from concept through to developing the grant application and the operational delivery of the project.

GRANT APPLICATION & SCHEME MANAGEMENT

In addition to our knowledge of all grant schemes, we can advise which grant scheme best suits your woodland needs. As part of our full management service, we guide you through the application process and manage the implementation of the project. Our experienced team has excellent expertise in the grant application process and project implementation process. We can offer you in-depth advice, guidance, and assistance in navigating the complex and ever-changing grant schemes and can help you create a successful application.

FOREST CERTIFICATION

With certification, woodland owners receive an internationally recognised stamp of approval for their woodland management practices. It can also provide owners with improved access to timber markets, and certified timber often attracts a premium price.

WILDWOODS

With our help, you can create a wilder landscape that benefits people, nature and the climate.  We provide the following services:

NATIVE WOODLAND MANAGEMENT

Management of native, ancient, and semi-natural woodlands that respect and enhance their features. This type of management is critical to preserve the natural state of the woodlands and ensure the area’s biodiversity.

NATIVE WOODLAND CREATION

To combat climate change and nature crises, it is crucial to create new native woodland. To expand native woodlands, we can evaluate the suitability for expansion and thoughtfully design new woodland proposals. As part of our services, we can help you move forward with the application and grant approval process and manage your project’s operational aspects.

SITE CONDITION MONITORING & MANAGEMENT PLANNING

Our team monitors the condition of woodlands and associated wetland and upland habitats and develops a comprehensive woodland management plan. For example, the team recently completed a monitoring and management plan for an extensive woodland in the South of Scotland. This included a detailed review of its tree stock, habitat diversity and features of high conservation value.

RESTORATION OF ANCIENT WOODLANDS

We can provide advice for restoring ancient woodlands back to their former glory. This includes advice on how to restore woodlands, assessments of the remnant features and surveys of regeneration.

HABITAT MANAGEMENT

If you wish to protect, conserve, and enhance wildlife in your woodland, we can assess the ecological condition and recommend management approaches. Our services include the installation of nest boxes, the management of open ground, and the modification of forest edges to make them more suitable for wildlife. It is also possible to improve your woodlands to enhance the resources for protected species.

INVASIVE & NON-NATIVE SPECIES

We can advise on sustainable long-term solutions and practical approaches to invasive species management. Non-native species can disrupt the natural balance of ecosystems, leading to water and nutrient availability changes, reducing the diversity of flora and fauna, and even introducing diseases. Sustainable long-term solutions and practical approaches to invasive species management are critical for maintaining a healthy and balanced environment.

WOODLAND CARBON CODE

The Woodland Carbon Code is the quality assurance standard for woodland creation projects in the UK and generates high integrity, independently verified carbon units. As a registered project developer, we provide expert carbon sequestration calculations and prepare the required documentation for verification and validation. Additionally, we can provide advice on carbon unit sales.

PEATLAND RESTORATION

Global climate regulation relies heavily on peatlands. We undertake forest-to-bog restoration as part of our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and reclaim valuable habitats. For instance, Forest-to-Bog restoration projects have been implemented in Scotland to restore Sphagnum and other bog species on former forestry sites to help reduce carbon emissions.

REWILDING

We can assist you in your rewilding journey, whether protecting, expanding and regenerating woodlands or reintroducing novel species to help nature recover. We can also provide the necessary guidance and advice to ensure your rewilding efforts are successful.
